Who we are

Our Mission

A registered PNG benefit association growing food security with practical agri-technology.

Our mission

Practical technology, a new mindset and local leadership, building businesses that last.

We support Papua New Guinea’s development agenda by helping communities turn practical technology into sustainable local businesses.

Too many projects arrive, hand over equipment and leave. We do it differently. We start with a real problem, bring a simple solution that works here, train local people to run it and help them earn from it, so the benefit keeps going long after we step back.

Three pillars

How we turn ideas into lasting change.

Together they lead to one outcome: sustainable local businesses.

01

Practical solutions

Technology that works in a PNG village, not just in a lab.

  • Low-cost tools built from local materials
  • Tested in PNG conditions before we scale
  • Black soldier fly first, then climate-smart and digital tools
  • Simple to repair, run and maintain locally
02

Mindset change

Seeing farming, waste and enterprise in a new way.

  • Farming as a business, not only for subsistence
  • Waste as a resource, not rubbish
  • Learning by doing, with peers and mentors
  • Confidence that local people can lead
03

Local initiatives

Owned and led by the community from day one.

  • Groups choose the project and the site
  • Local operators trained to run every unit
  • Youth and women at the centre
  • Profits and decisions stay in the community

Mindset change

The biggest shift is how we see what is possible.

Tap each card to see the shift we work towards with every group we partner with.

From idea to enterprise

The journey every group takes with us.

  1. 1

    Spark

Awareness days and demonstrations show what is possible.

  2. 2

    Learn

Hands-on training for operators, with simple record keeping.

  3. 3

    Try

A starter unit runs with mentoring and regular check-ins.

  4. 4

    Earn

Feed, fertiliser and services are sold to local buyers.

  5. 5

    Lead

Graduates mentor the next group and grow the business.

Built to last

Every project is designed as a business.

A black soldier fly unit is not a gift to be maintained by donors. It is a small enterprise with customers, costs and income, so it can pay its operators and keep running.

We only start where there is a clear local need, a reliable supply of waste and buyers for what the unit produces.

How a community BSF unit earns

  • Larvae and feedSold to poultry, pig and fish farmers, or used on the group’s own farm.
  • Frass fertiliserBagged for gardens, nurseries and cash-crop growers.
  • Waste collectionMarkets, schools and businesses pay to have food waste taken away.
  • Training and visitsExperienced groups train and host others.
How we measure success

Not by what we hand out, but by what keeps running.

Businesses still tradingone and three years after we step back
People trained and earningwith a focus on youth and women
Kina earned locallyfrom feed, fertiliser and services
Waste kept out of dumpsand imported feed replaced
